I you ask me i would have definitely chose OpenOffice or LibreOffice instead of all this hassle,though there is a catch. Both of these open source software’s are weak on the point of running macros. So if you are planning to do something more simple it is one of the best option available.It can save,open and edit documents in every format.

Though there is no excel 2007 version available for Apple Mac pc’s but still if you really want to run it then here are two options. Trying it VIA Boot Camp Assistant and the other one is using the virtual Machine to run Windows.
Note : MS Excel Macros don’t work on parallel virtual machine, to use them you have to copy the Microsoft Excel file directly to your Windows virtual machine HD.
Boot Camp Assistant will parition your HD and install windows on it, so actually it is like installing another OS on same pc. If you are ready to do so follow the steps.
